The scores are in for the Ercol 472 Chairmakers' Chair - comfort and size guide.
Ercol (472) Chairmakers’ Chair
Taking as his starting point, a classic Windsor arm-chair, made more than 200 years ago, Ercol evolved a double bow fireside or window chair that is exceptionally lovely. More elegant and beautifully proportioned than its forerunner and more finely finished, it is certainly much lighter and much more comfortable, with its softly curved flying arms and back raked precisely for indolence.
This items was produced from 1962 to 1987 with a later variant with hooped underframe from 2013.

Our thoughts: The added seat height, depth and increased seatback make this chair a comfier fit, particularly for the taller sitter. The curved back and flying arms allow the chair to wrap you in its embrace. For those with shorter legs, a shallower seat cushion (this chair originally came with a 1inch seat pad) would adapt it well. The arms are a good height and the more upright seated position better for posture.
